This episode is part one of a two-part roundtable discussion based on the HBO series, Lovecraft Country. I loved this show. It’s supernatural and fantastical, its characters are complicated and flawed. Its use of audio and imagery is compelling. I haven’t been this excited for a series since Game of Thrones. There are just so many discussion points in this series, making it a perfect accompaniment to my Black Feminism class. This episode is from our discussion of episode five, titled “A Strange Case”. It follows our readings on controlling images and self-definition from Patricia Hill Collins’s foundational text, Black Feminist Thought.
